چکیده

1. An improved method for the preparation of phosphoprotein phosphatase from ox spleen is described. The enzyme was purified 60-fold with a yield of 21 %. 2. The enzyme preparation was free from proteolytic activity and had no action on fl-glycerol phosphate. 3. The enzyme was active on caseins, phenyl phosphate and inorganic pyrophosphate. Hence it cannot be described as a specific phosphoprotein phosphatase. 4. The pH optimum with caseins and phenyl phosphate was about pH 5-5. 5. The enzyme was stable over a wide range of pH and at temperatures below 700.

Anticancer activity of cow, sheep, goat, mare, donkey and camel milks and their caseins and whey proteins and in silico comparison of the caseins

The present investigation was carried out to evaluate anticancer activity of cow, goat, sheep, mare, donkey and camel milks and their casein and whey proteins against MCF7 cell line. The structure-based properties of the casein proteins were also investigated, using bioinformatics tools to find explanation for their antitumor activities. The effect of different milks and their casein and whey p...

O-44: Characterisation of Monotreme CaseinsReveals Lineage Specific Expansion of an AncestralCasein Locus in Mammals

Background: One important reproductive characteristic of Mammals is the production of milk to nurse the neonate. In order to better understand the evolution of milk we have investigated gene expression in milk cells from monotremes which are the most ancient representative of the mammalian lineage. Materials and Methods: Using a milk cell cDNA sequencing approach we characterise milk protein se...

Studies on the interactions between purified bovine caseins and alkaline-earth-metal ions.

1. Alkaline-earth-metal cations at low concentrations form soluble complexes with bovine caseins. The relative order of binding capacities is: Mg(2+)>Ca(2+)>Ba(2+)>Sr(2+). 2. The cations interact with both free ionized carboxyl groups of aspartic acid and glutamic acid and with monoester phosphate groups covalently bound to serine and threonine; at low concentrations of the cations interactions...

Glycogen synthase kinases. Classification of a rabbit liver casein and glycogen synthase kinase (casein kinase-1) as a distinct enzyme.

A protein kinase, able to phosphorylate casein, phosvitin, and glycogen synthase, was purified approximately 9000-fold from rabbit liver, and appeared analogous to an enzyme studied by Itarte and Huang (Itarte, E., and Huang, K.-P. (1979) J. Biol. Chem. 254, 4052-4057). This enzyme, designated here casein kinase-1, was shown to be a distinct glycogen synthase kinase and in particular to be diff...

Exploring the Interaction Mechanism of Coumarin with Bovine β-Casein: Spectrofluorometric and Molecular Modeling Studies

This paper is designed to examine the binding behavior of Coumarin with bovine -casein (βCN) through fluorescence spectroscopy and molecular modeling techniques. The data analysis on fluorescence titration experiments at various temperatures represents the enthalpy driven nature for the formation of Coumarin–βCN complex and the prevailed role of hydrogen bonds and van der Waals interactions in...
